The only problem with Ultrix being the queen of blades is that Khizan is not Raynor
I'm really more of a Tychus, it is true.
"On the battlefield I am a god. I love war. The steel, the smell, the corpses. I wish there were more. On the first day I drove the Northmen back alone at the ford. Alone! On the second I carried the bridge! Me! Yesterday I climbed the Heroes! I love war! I… I wish it wasn’t over."
Amusingly, I learned a while back that Indite(the weapon naming skill) uses the same list of forbidden names as playernames do(I wanted to name a sword 'Grief' and couldn't).
So now you can't name your sword 'Twat' either.

There was someone in Achaea with a pet called 'Griefer' ..
Oddly enough, he's perma shrubbed :O
Hrm, that makes me sad. He used Griefer to get two high-ranking people from Cyrene to go on a wild goose chase to help a non-existent colony of stymphalian birds. He had totally already totally messed with me, by the way, and begged me not to tell anyone :P There are plenty of people who really do seem to be happiest if they're making someone else have a bad day, but Bonko just seemed crazy in the best way. Ah well. No doubt he pushed some line too far too many times (which isn't hard to see him doing).
In Achaea people enthusiastically pounce on the slightest hint of OOC reference as "insanity", because they think they get RP brownie points or something. Even some poor newb will get jumped on. Sometimes even on newbie channel (which makes no sense). I'm more relieved that Imperian has little slip ups/just doesn't seem to care about minor stuff and completely lets it slide. Achaeans will also do something like post a creepy ass log of people being "evil", played absolutely straight, no "camp" factor like you guys had with the fairy. Even the other Achaeans were creeped the hell out, but couched their comments soooooo delicately, because it's "arpee". Saying "jesus man" would get you a good tongue lashing and a heavy dose of condescension, but child murder/torture porn (only to serve the "underlying psychological bit" for the char they were doing a sort of rite of passage for, of course) is glorious arpee. Just, ugh. In short, this place is great. Keep doing what you're doing and don't start taking yourselves too seriously over here.
We can 'not take ourselves too seriously' and not have people spouting clearly OOC crap on a public log of the city.
Your long rant about how Achaeans do creepy child torture scenes has nothing to do with it being irritating to see 'Jesus' in a city log. Would it have been so hard to just eliminate the very obvious OOC reference and leave it at 'Man, get it together?' No, not really.
Imperian's website (and assorted rules related to the subject) has the following to say about the RP environment in Imperian:
When in Imperian, roleplaying is required anytime one is using any sort of public forum. These include public conversations, the newsboardss, citytells, and guildtells. You should try to make a distinction between the knowledge you possess as a player and the knowledge of your character has. Your character will not know everything about the world that you do. Act this out and you shall find the experience most rewarding.
There are plenty of RP encouraged or no RP games to play. This isn't one of them. Nor is it VERBOTEN to have OOC conversations in Imperian, you just restrict it to appropriate environments.
As always, you're over reacting, for some ungodly reason. No one jumps on newbies in newbie channel, unless they refuse to quit doing what they're doing, after being politely asked to stop. Like trying to carry on a conversation about RL stuff with one another, which most generally stop when it's kindly pointed out to them.
As for the logs- to each, their own. You're not participating in, nor do you even interact with those people (if it's the ones I'm thinking of), so why should you care about what they do. There were quite a fair number of people who thought his log was well done, since none of it was over the top at all.
Also, saying something like 'jesus, man' (in the same context it was used in, in that quote) is not going get you jumped on by anyone. Aside from maybe 1 -certain- person in Cyrene, no one else would really bat an eye.
PS. Please stop giving unwarranted badmouthing to the other IRE games, just cause you have random isues (that you created) with people there. Thanks.
I think there's a little bit of gray area between being belligerent to ooc in NEWBIE and being accepting of the name Jesus in IC channels. I think we should be somewhere in that gray area. =P
Eh, I kinda feel like I'd rather get the belligerence -out- in the newbie channel. :P
The game is drowning in thongs. We are at no risk of being put under the argh-pee elitist version of sharia law (no offense to any member of any organized religion), for real.
EDIT - In actual 'quote' news <.<
Kabaal just brought me homemade waffles. With 'I love you' spelled out in butter (so he says).
I think we can handle a little imaginative guy with a beard that walked on water. Enjoy your tentacle-seed flaying, psychic channel telling, boot-flipping out of 10 affliction world, and worry about more important stuff.

I think we are mostly in that happy gray area. People can wear all the thongs (and pockebelts!) they like and I don't mind. I mean, aren't the staples of war thongs and butter? Here, something like the "Jesus man" happens sometimes and people don't blink an eye, or they just chuckle (good-naturedly) over it. I'm very glad people are like that, too. I only really started playing last summer, but I've been very impressed by the game and its player base.
The best way I've ever seen someone handle OOC talk on public channels was when I think @Cordilia said this to someone who had come back from a long rest and was asking about stuff in very OOC ways on GT: "You talk funny but I like you anyway". It was the perfect way to gently let her know without being condescending or heavy-handed, and it ended very well, with everyone helping her with her stuff.
Was it my condescension or my heavy handedness that did me in? :>
Note - I have no particular issue with thongs. Unless they are pink. Pink thongs are just ugly.
I'd really not like to see references to Jesus any more than I want people quoting MLK directly or singing Nirvana songs on stage as Bards.
We cannot and should not eliminate references/influences from the real world, but I think we -can- expect (particularly from players who have been around as long as I have) that they know to keep the direct, absolute OOC references out of public channels. Especially since thems the rules, yes?
Not you Krysaliss, I should have been more clear about that. I think you genuinely see the continuum of what's acceptable a bit differently, but that's not at all the same thing as the other two things (unfortunately, though, it just tends to provide that kind of person with tools).
EDIT: and yeah, too much cheese is too much cheese, on the Nirvana songs and such, sure.
I thought it was hilarious. Our RP is coming back, slowly but surely, but Zenigra's log just shows how good-natured our relationships are. I don't think it was detrimental to our RP experiences. Imperian is indeed for fantasy roleplaying but every now and then seeing things like that give me a good laugh. I guess I should disfavour him for "insanity," huh?

He claims it was a butter way to say it.
Send help.
