Unfortunately, the Father of Swords is inherently negated by this griefy rebounding thing. Like, come on. People can just have it? It must cost like, at least a million credits.
‘Least I won’t have to carry it no more. You see how bloody heavy it is?’
‘Every sword’s a weight to carry. Men don’t see that when they pick ’em up. But they get heavier with time.”
You can take this half seriously. Not claiming that this is the optimal method for each profession. I'm sure there are other ways or better ways to go about it for some professions. Mage is changing so I kept it vague and simple. Some people might be SOL if they're the only hunter and can't do what's expected as the main person of the profession. Also sorry, but bard gets no love in this post.
Feel free to nitpick or add your own suggestions, but the point below is if you're not doing damage, you're not killing anyone. I tried to keep it simple. I even put in some fancy stuff for those rebel rogue magickers who do their own thing. I can only hope there is only 1 of these per team =O.
Magick's First rule of business. Target order, call it on ring before a fight. Someone has to do it.
Magick's Second rule of business. Stopped moving? Drop a monolith. This is NOT the time to continue deffing up and lose balance/eq. You lost your chance when your leader started moving.
Druid
Before you fight? Call roots, summon golem. When your leader stops moving? Call roots, summon golem.
Main Druid/Artie Druid: evoke empower rockfall, evoke wisp poisonous, order golem kill @target, quarterstaff staff strychnine, naturebind shred @target
All other druids: evoke empower rockfall, evoke wisp metallic, order golem kill @target, quarterstaff stab @target strychnine, naturebind shred @target
Disabler: Alternate with circle/entangle. ONLY needed when focus fire is a tanky target.
Druid bunker: Use tornado, airsong oppression, earthsong strength.
Runeguard
More than 1 runeguard? BEFORE you leave, decide which runeguard is flaring the following: sowulu/nairat/pithakhan/eihwaz/hugalaz.
You can toxin track? Okay great. You probably already do the below. Just don't forget to coordinate flares.
Main runeguard/Artie runeguard: target nothing, order kestrel kill @target, rsl/dsl with sabre, flare sowulu and selected runes
All other runeguards: target nothing, order kestrel kill @target, rsl/dsl @target strychnine strychnine, flare selected rune
Disabler: Sketch nairat on ground, and flare wunjo.
Fancy runeguard #1: target nothing, order kestrel kill @target, rsl/dsl with sabre strychnine strychnine, sketch nairat/sowulu on ground, alternate flare sowulu/wunjo. Don't get caught with flooded rooms. Bring cube sigils.
Runeguard bunker: Prop totem, sketch laguz/lagul as appropriate.
Mage:
Main mage/Artie mage: Primary should do damage, use penetration lavablast at full fire attunement. If you can, use scourge right before full attunement.
All other mages: Penetration/Quickcast, Primary should do damage, Secondary should match primary attunement or do damage.
Fancy mage #1: Drain mana when you have a druid on the team for reclaim kills. Can't trust your druid? See "All other mages."
Bard:
Main Bard/Artie Bard: Why are you in this profession? switch profession mage and do more damage faster.
All other bards: sketchlink fireblast @target, attack @target. Let's be real, and not get fancy here. Shaite/rubait is all you got.
Bard bunker: Lamia's call, song up your friends.
Renegade:
Prior to battle, summon cobra, summon phantom, worm attach rashirmir
All renegades: order cobra kill @target, order phantom kill target, garrote @target, worm choke @target
**Protip: Smith an awesome whip. How do you know what's good? Check the stats and add the damage and speed. If the sum is comparable to level 2 or higher artifact whips, it's good.
Renegade bunker: First things first. Enemy @target x30. snare traps in all your directions.
Hunter:
Use nature aura, and summon your ice.
Main Hunter: wyvern claw @target hemotoxin, basilisk trigger @target insanity instability affliction hemotoxin...Continue to claw hemotoxin, and trigger @target mentalaff mentalaff affliction hemotoxin...announce for brainmelt as necessary.
Artie Hunter/All other hunters: wyvern iceblast @target, basilisk lash @target...Continue to do so until someone calls for brainmelt.
Fancy hunter: Have a runeguard that can toxin track? wyvern roar @target, basilisk sensitivity @target. 2 second stun and prone with sensitivity is no joke with a sabre runeguard.
Hunter bunker: Resummon ice as necessary. Lure a random and hope you split them from the enemy group. Set your basilisk to transfix or boomerang a target. At least have it do something.
I think the pages are stuck together or something because this is what Magick is currently running with:
Magick's First rule of business.do something.
"On the battlefield I am a god. I love war. The steel, the smell, the corpses. I wish there were more. On the first day I drove the Northmen back alone at the ford. Alone! On the second I carried the bridge! Me! Yesterday I climbed the Heroes! I love war! I… I wish it wasn’t over."
Pretty much everyone outside of Magick would do all those things, people in Magick (during my various stints there) usually spend 97% of their time/effort bitching at each other instead of trying to analyze what went wrong/ways to improve.
Example: Multiple magickers complained that Magick profs suck. Septus goes Magick and not coincidentally, the prof he picks up gets nerfed within a few days. Then he swaps back to AM because every Magick comm channel is filled with people complaining about something or another.
1) read your class skills 2) try to bitch less 3) stop being a selfish shit in this age of shared-everything-on-ring
I am glad people took the bait and are posting more cause of it. Thank you psychology.
Yes, you are a masterful troll that has deceived us.
It couldn't possibly be because of your post history or being notorious for raging about balance issues you can't comprehend that we expect you are being serious when you make comments like that.
It was a mildly cloudly day, not much was going on, and a friend and I decided to have coffee. During one of our discussions, he went on to remark, "...people act differently online and offline. There are two different persona everyone takes. I'm willing to bet you a person can be nice and patient offline but a completely hateful online."
I had set my coffee down and shook my head slightly. "I agree with that to a point, though I believe it's not so black and white. I think certain things drive people differently from a social standard offline than what they aspire to be online."
To prove a point to each other, I told him to log onto this forum site and watch what would happen if I place a certain instigation. I told him to make sure to read past posts for clarification as well.
I first showed him how any form of hatred toward the class summoner sparks an immediate clash on here. That was taken rather quickly. Next I fed the post with sarcasm and blatant things that would provoke people more. Whether they believed it or not, he saw them respond anyways. After reading the posts, he and I concluded many different things.
1. We strive for self-entitlement. Everyone likes feeling in control. Having respect and power builds our confidence and allows us to feel like we have certain control over what we're doing and possibly those around us. By taking what someone says and turning it against them, this is a form of relinquished control where the target loses respect and the attacker gains ground with cynicism. Other scenarios such as degrading superiors, attacking administrators/bosses/supervisors, and proclaiming a sense of well endowed anything creates more of a sense of power within the person over his or her environment.
2. The internet allows safeguards. There is a good chance I will never meet any of you in person. This goes for most internet users against other internet users. By allowing this wall of space between people, we feel more capable of saying whatever may be in our heads at the time without repercussions. After taking a look at the forums, my friend had remarked how quick certain people were to announce any kind of hostility toward someone they felt was inferior, and gained recognition from it. In real life, if we were to do the same, people would be less likely to accept the hostility and retaliate with their own. In some cases or social outlets people are less inclined to say something or do something back, but the internet allows the comfort of essentially throwing punches at people without any fear of one being thrown back. Even if there is retaliation, it's online and merely subjective and would not harm us either way.
3. We love drama. Whether it's reading a book or playing a game on Xbox, you require conflict to keep it interesting. Without out, many things would grow stale and disinterest us to the point where we forget about it entirely. By creating conflict, people become more interested in the topic at hand and build up on top of it. Some people require this daily in their own lives wherever it may come from to ensure they feel like they're part of the situation and not simply a bystander. What's the easiest way to start drama or a conversation? Make someone feel slighted. Attack someone else about their principles. People are more willing to converse back with emotion and create the sense of an interesting topic when there is tension. Drama is by far the easiest and most used form of tension used among popular media today.
In conclusion, I think we were both right in a sense. People like to place themselves in situations where they have control, and the internet allows us to convince ourselves of that. In turn this creates the split he sees of people acting differently when online and offline. Any hostility used by people is expected in these scenarios because of respect and social standing they garner amongst themselves.
To add, I truly do believe bard is fine, AM doesn't bully anyone, and I understand completely why there are so many summoners in this game. When you compare summoner to the other demonic classes, it would be hard to not accept that it has great combat control, excellent damage, and scales heavily well with artifact buy in. It's very versatile and allows any user to feel useful in any combat situation. Magick wins some and loses some. We've been doing well enough lately that I don't feel like we have too few active people.
As for feeding Elrith brainmelt kills thing, that was just coincidence. Magick isn't as coordinated with that as you might believe. We all just do our own things and hope it works with one another. I completely acknowledge that we will never have the motivation to fight nor the want to become orderly like the people in demonic. They have their heads in the right places for combat. Magick not so much. It's fun regardless either way.
And that's that, I suppose. Get back to posting more! People like the drama!
As for feeding Elrith brainmelt kills thing, that was just coincidence.
Not true, I was adding mental affs (hellsight and bewilder affs) for him and announcing the affs to him so he could track it to BM. It worked to a point, until he died quickly, and then I switched to full damage.
Result: High damage with sensitivity probably sticking due to focus of 2 people on it. Even more of a bonus if the druid/hunter can track afflictions and stab/claw other affs but strychnine is always priority. I don't care if you have to remove all maidenhair affs on your tracker after you see target eat maidenhair. Strychnine is priority. Added bonus is random mental affs constantly being triggered on the target every time they try to cure selected toxin. If they're not dead to the high druid damage with strychnine, brainmelt is there.
Does it matter if AM or demonic know your strategy? Not so much because if they focus on the hunter, they are taking druid damage. If they focus on the druid, they are headed towards brainmelt.
Protip: If you're facing a tank, druids should lead with curse and track it well for reapplication. Say goodbye to their health regen. With poisonous wisps, they lose toadstool. All they have left is their sip bonus.
@Mathiaus: The papers on internet trolling you tried to paraphrased/plagiarized were harshly dinged for selection bias. Your choice of papers really highlighted your victim mentality in so far as it went to show that you feel that you are trolled for no reason. That's simply not the case. You're the instigator for over 90% of your own trolling by opening up with remarks like, "Summoner is OP and the only way you win." Then you follow it up with some sort of tactic to play it off as you're masterminding and manipulating people. The only thing missing from this picture is a 'fedora' and 99 diamonds.
The combat climate in Imperian is really complicated and always in flux. There's a lot of factors that play into population and retention. AM is a pretty solid example of terrible leadership yard darting a powerhouse into obscurity. Demonic picked up a cadre of veterans (some who couldn't stand Magick), who despite being assholes, foster a team mentality and mutual support . Summoner is probably the best overall class in demonic. It bashes well. It tanks well. It does respectable dps in pk. If you know what you're doing it's terrifyingly useful. This is not dissimilar from druid, rg, hunter, cleric, templar, outrider. When you join, we'll tell you to go Summoner because it's so versatile in all aspects of Imperian. Welcome recruit, here's your demons and some fire. Go bash. When we need you, come pk. Once you've got your 'sea-legs' fighters start branching out into other classes and are assisted by the veterans in figuring out "how kill." At the end of the day, combat balance is better than it's ever been and you can do useful things in pretty much any profession.
At the end of the day, I'm sorry you don't like (understand?) the mechanics and the mentality of Imperian. I understand that you're jealous of Demonic and that this makes you upset (pop psyche 101). Rather than post psuedo-psychology trash to support your crying wolf 'summoner op' rants (and associated troll debunking), I think it would be a better strategy to emulate all the things about Demonic that you hate.
