Renascent Armguards

So, I've noticed this while I creep around doing creepy things. I think the Renascent Armguards are bugged. I don't think the stored defenses have a mana drain associated with them when they're activated from the armguard.

Be warned, incoming spam, mainly because friggin' spoiler tags won't work.

This person didn't drink mana either.

I took off my mana ring and watched the mana ticks. In about 30s I lost 80 mana. At a minute I was well below half mana. Defenses are balanced around draining mana. Can we please get some clean up on aisle six?

  • I can confirm that defences do not drain at all when applied with armguards.

It's the only reason why I got them honestly. Thought it was part of the perks for getting them.

  • You thought keeping up all the mana draining defenses with no cost was a perk and not a bug?

When they sell several artifacts that cost more with the intent to make mana more manageable. (Robes/mana sip ring/mana regen ring/auction artifacts).

    I mean come on.
  • Oi, that's not fixed yet? Let me check.
  • A sneaky bug, that. Fixed now!

I questioned it at first, but someone I spoke to told me that was part of having them, so I rolled with it and got them simply cause they told me it gave no drains. I see no reason for me to have them now, especially since they don't store bard songs or anything else super useful for me. I honestly wish I could get all the credits back for it now, but more than likely I'll be told you don't get refunded for a bug we kept on it accidentally.

  • These armguards allow you to store all your defences, then
instantly recall them. Ideal to raise all your necessary
combat defences instantly, without any delays! Restoring
defences can only be done once per 60 minutes.
      - TWIST ARMGUARD: stores all (allowed) defences in the armguard.
        Clears any previously-stored defences
      - UNTWIST ARMGUARD: releases defences stored for your current profession,
        including profession-agnostic defences.
      - TAP ARMGUARD: restore saved defences. Does not delete saved
        defences. 60 minute cooldown.
      - Note that certain defences, especially momentum-based
defences, are excluded, such as engage, most of Kanai,
shield tattoo, numbness, or kai deliverance.

Notice the bolded parts. They're a convenience artifact, specifically with functionality added  for stuff to be stored per class including profession neutral defenses.  There is no mention of benefits regarding mana consumption. If negating mana consumption was included I imagine they would be super hot sellers and they would mention it in the help file as that would make people go "hell yah, gonna buy these."

The functionality of what was offered has not changed. The only thing that has changed is that they are no longer bugged. There has been no reduction in usefulness overall, just a reduction in perceived usefulness because you can no longer receive the benefit of the bug itself.

Which is exactly why I had gotten them. It was the selling point of what was told to me regardless of what was written in the help file because I had even commented on it seeming a bit overpowered to have no drains but was reassured that was part of the artifact's abilities.

I just have to deal with the misconception that was given to me and use them, regardless of how else I might feel about it.

  • A safe tip:

If your artifact is doing more than it says it does, it's more than likely a bug and will be fixed. This is exactly why I never bought armguards, despite the 'perks'.

    Life is hard. :(
  • We can go ahead and close this thread now, because Apoloc just won it.

"On the battlefield I am a god. I love war. The steel, the smell, the corpses. I wish there were more. On the first day I drove the Northmen back alone at the ford. Alone! On the second I carried the bridge! Me! Yesterday I climbed the Heroes! I love war! I… I wish it wasn’t over."

  • Armguards still worth it for the vitality.
  • It is a convenience artifact. Convenience doesn't really mean 'remove the cost point of a defense'.

It is pretty good still for vitality, though..

  • IIRC, that bug's been fixed too, and it doesn't still transfer vitality to classes that don't have it.

  • The Armguards don't store wyvern collar vitality?

  • They shouldn't, no.

  • The stance I heard was vitality collar was fine because you only get the vitality once every hour.

Somewhat related, bliss defence doesn't drop when you swap profs. So you can put up bliss then change prof and it continues ticking and gives you all the defences that bliss does. It can and will give you toughness, resistance, fitness, which you can then store onto your armguards.
  • Annnd, fixed. Please make sure to file bug reports when you find such things, thanks!
