Actually, the garden did not make the choice.

They offered the option to pick - As a guild - Which side to fall on. If you tolerated any demons or membership in stavenn, you got put in demonic. If you tolerated any magick but no demons you got made magickal.

The wytchen still tried to say WE ARE NEUTRAL and were warned over and over, and they still tried to say they'd span both and got told lolno and made demonic.

I'm pretty sure the Wytchen weren't given a choice, because they needed to be the source of demonic circle runes.

In a way that's true, Stavenn did need a source of runes. But it was decided that the Wytchen would be that source because, as was pointed out earlier, they were pretty overtly demonic according to the admin policy of 'if you are not against it then you are for it'. I'm pretty certain if the Wytchen had taken a more hard-line stance against demoners they would have found some other work around (or maybe just do what they did for Assassins/Renegades and Hunters/Outriders).

Outriders and Hunters got split because there was a sizable faction of hunters who didn't want to be magickal. In fact "The result of the referendum in the Hunters guild was 15 voting against "the Hunters being defined as a magickal class, and 9 voting for. (Announce #880)"

Wytchen had no sizable magick presence at all. None. They had a bunch of Stavennites and might-as-well-be-Stavennites who wanted to avoid being classified as demonic so that they could bash caiman/serpents/badgers and use magickal council shops and bash with magicker friends and hide in Kinsarmar when Stavenn was being raided.

Don't forget being paid for doing all our totems. I know for at least a little while, all the totems in Khandava were done by one wytch.

It was similarly the argument made for the Renegades. We had enough of a presence to justify it, and the magic cities needed toxins.
Ahkan: "I think Dranor would be well served to log everything [Ashel] and Juran do and adjust classleads accordingly."

I am pretty sure the Wytchen were not given a choice in the matter, depsite the fact that they had a historical trend of trying to distance themselves from Stavenn, and established RP that was more or less a semi-weak attempt to make them seem non-demonic. There was a point in which we actually outguilded everyone in the Wytchen that refused to drop their Stavennite citizenship (Dregaur, Elizabell, and a bunch of others who's names escape me).

Without the Wytchen, the demonic circle would have no access to Runelore. I'm pretty sure Big A and Pappa D were unwilling to let that happen.

After they were classified as demonic, they still tried to stay neutral. It seems that that they're still trying doing so to a lesser extent.

So one thing I noticed. Plantlore is the 17th skill in Shamanism. That would put it at roughly expertish or so?

None of the other classes that get a harvesting bonus have to learn so high to get their bonus as is my understanding. In fact, I was pretty sure it if you have trailblazing and trans concoctions, you get 1k plants per day flat out. No lesson investment or anything.

Why the disparity? Can plantlore just be granted at inept or give trailblazing/whatever it is druids get their harvesting bonus in a skill at a similar level to to Plantlore to encourage parity.

Basically, while it is a minor thing its kinda a kick in the balls after being gimped on herb supplies for so long, that we don't get the "get apprenticed in hunter/outrider/druid and get 1k plants automatically" trick that the other circles get.

This is so exicitin'!

ADD: spent 20 minutes trying to get Craig Ferguson up here to emphasize my point, but alas, the forum interface is beyond my grasp. Some help?

It's probably because Craig Ferguson doesn't care about Wytchen.

Imperian as it is now, not as it was when you were pretending that being a heavily artifacted bard made you good at the game.

So how far along are we on the development process for this? Is this something we'll see any time soon, or has testing stalled out or what?

It shouldn't take much longer, the skill is in a fairly good shape now.
