I'm the first to admit, I got bored after the first 4 months of their admin doing literally nothing (Was it year three when Avasyu was moved there to finally try and make it stop sucking?), but I don't really see anything from an outside perpective that would make me want to play Aetolia over Imp. If I wanted an experience far removed from Imp I'd play Lusternia, if I wanted to play Original Achaea with Vampires, I'd probably still just play Achaea.

I made a big long tirade about the 5-year plan, and I'll repeat what I can:

While you can say alot about Dranor's personal pace, you can't blame him for not fulfilling the 5-year plan. It was overly ambitious for the staff they had then, made assumptions about Imperian's growth that were clearly inaccurate, and was dumped on Dranor's lap. What was he supposed to do anyway? Turn around and say 'so, since our lead developer left us for Aetolia and I was left to fill in his job while lacking a replacement coder, I'm canceling this 5-year plan which is probably the only reason why alot of you even still play'? IRE might be lousy customer service wise, but even they are not complete morons. Some of you might say you'd have preferred disclosure, but your lying if you genuinely believe that the boards wouldn't have been flooded with tears.

Heck, even with Garryn they still don't have the coder base that they had when the 5-year plan was announced, so while you can blame Dranor for alot of things, failing to come through on the 5-year plan is something that is better placed on Avasyu's lap.

Now, as far as Dranor's actions in the past? He was either slacking in the past and has gotten his head in the game recently (not going to go into the million and one variables that would make this slacking justified or unjustified), so we should just buck up, realize mistakes were made, and be willing to give forgiveness once forgiveness is earned (I understand if some of you are unwilling to give it just yet), or he really was working his butt off just to keep this game afloat and only just recently has the resources to put in some progress as opposed to simply maintaining things, in which case you're being a dick and harping on him for being limited.

Are we ever going to get confirmation either way? No. Because if the former is true then it makes Dranor look bad and IRE look bad for not replacing him, and if the latter is true it makes IRE look bad for being so willing to throw one of their MUDs under the bus when it suits them, confirmation of either truth is going to hurt IRE's image and I'm sure nobody here would say they can afford the damage.

TL;DR version: quit bawling about 5-year plan, it just makes you look stupid.

I'm sure if Dranor had as many Celani/Gods as he did when the 5 year plan is announced, I'm sure we'd see a lot more. The fact is that, they cannot pay for every person to code, and I understand as revolves around the bottom line, profit ect.. I think it's great what they are releasing, at the speed they are releasing it. Go back 30 announce posts and re-read what has been accomplished since then. If that isn't enough for your liking, then by all means switch to a different game. But seriously, ease up off the backs of the people who are spending countless hours of their time, creating some pretty nifty features all for the sake of pleasing you the players.

IRE has dropped the proverbial ball on public relations so many times that it's basically senseless navelgazing at this point to look back on any particular 'mistakes'. Just take everything with a grain of salt and use your head. If it seems overly ambitious, it probably is. Similarly, most stuff does still get done.. eventually.

Also, Aetolia's PK environment is still underdeveloped and off-balance compared to Imperian's, so I'm not sure why people are proclaiming it as the second coming or whatever.

Dranor, Garryn, Kialae and Molyn are the only ones I've dealt with that I have to say have been utterly awesome. Dranor seems to be much more approachable than I remember him being. Garryn's always busting his arse, Kialae as well. Molyn is just made of win, dead lycaean babies and pain.

Seems like they're much more friendly and open about things, which should of been happening a long time ago. So the people complaining must honestly forget what it was like back then, or didn't play back then.

Also, while Shallah was awesome with the V-Day events and everything that had to do with them, I'm still just a bit biased that I didn't know I could write over 500 words for the name contest.
