One of the major problems with "drunk" people on the internet is that, apparently, nobody on the internet had a bad idea, is absolutely horrible at tanking, can't heal their way out of a paper bag, or sucks at anything. They're just "really really drunk" or "sooooooo high right now", because that means they'll be cool on the internet instead of just being bad at the game.
I'd be very surprised if even 15% of the people who are using "drunk on the internet" as an excuse for bad ideas and bad gameplay are honestly intoxicated enough to experience significant impairment.

It's not like Bramondt makes a habit of making stupid posts followed by an exuse that he was drunk.
If he did, it's one thing. Since he doesn't, why are we getting on his case?
And, Naro, you probably shouldn't be insulting anyone.

Some people have weird sleep schedules and so find themselves staying up later than all their friends and family. Most people when they drink, don't drink to the point of passing out, so it's very likely that a normal person with a weird sleep schedule will find themselves sitting around drunk, bored, with nobody to talk to because they're all asleep. Internet however, is never asleep and has no schedule, so this is where they go.
Now, as far as Bramondt's specific post, while I agree he doesn't make a habit of it, I will say that we have seen drunk posting before: on New Year's Eve threads. Posts were typically poorly spelled, not thought through in any way, and short. This post was long, used proper spelling and grammar, and clearly had alot of thought put into it. So, as far as this claim to drunkenness goes... what Khizan said.

I can also tell you from personal experience that after having an crapton of rum & coke flowing through my system, I can still type clearly, and make proper grammar (it took me awhile, though, all that backspacing/deleting/retyping.
However, I wasn't clear of thought in the least.

I'd been thinking about this for a while. The Defilers might not come out for another year, but I like writing up charters, and I figured I'd throw something together to get an opinion. I don't, however, have two ounces of free time for something like sitting in front of notepad and thinking. So the other night, due to a series of clever (read:bad) moves on my part, I was in the dog house with a lot of free time on my hands, so I figured I'd write up the Defilers stuff on the fly.
I just also happened to be drunk for the first time in a while, and it was something like 2:30 in the morning. I obviously wasn't tanked, but again, the ball and chain prevent me from being very free with my booze.
Notice the edits and the general 'all over the place' of that post. There's no real coherency. I came back the next morning and groaned. The plan was good, the execution was horrible, can we move on to the subject of discussion?
How do you think the defilers will roleplay out?

I laughed.
And I approve of drinking and playing Imp, nothing spells fun like a stavennite bashing train with the nightmare before christmas soundtrack blaring and a case of beer in hand. I live in a pub (literally) and thus never lack for drinking companions, but I don't feel that I'm being insociable at all by coming online and chatting with old friends via the interwebs while enjoying a brew every now and then.
And I'm never ever impaired, ever; I don't get drunk, simply more awesome.

I've never noticed it impairing my typing ability or coherency any more than usual effects of lack of sleep. Others might say differently.
And on topic:
We don't need new classes, we need the ones we have now fixed.
And I don't think that releasing a new class should immediately mean that we need a new guild. Does Stavenn have the population for a sixth guild? Probably not.

Whether it needs a new guild or not is open to debate, but few things represent 'shiny' like a new class, and shiny is what brings players (especially from other IRE games) back or in. New classes, new reasons for fighting and world changing events (guild destructions/buildings, city destructions/buildings, new gods, gods getting destroyed) are the real drawcards for players, and if all goes smoothly Imps looking to get 3 out of 3 in the near future, which will be nice.
