    :/
My wife's on a women's retreat thing this weekend. Hence why the other daughter is with me. I live in my car normally, staying in my inlaws' house so I can take care of my daughter. Complicated stuff, living with parents due to disability and being unable to work, and then being kicked out because they have crazy expectations that you can't live up to. But it's life, and ya move on.

Can't live anywhere in Northern VA/DC Metro area, or even close, without dual income, and good income at that -.-
  • Cosmetologist! :] A pretty amazing one at that.
  • I work as an investment risk manager

  • A bit back, line cook at a super fancy hoity toity Michelin star restaurant. Now, back to being a student without a goal, because I realized I liked being able to play Imperian.
  • I suggest finding a goal, and sticking with it. Student loans suck...I dropped out of college, but still had to pay back those damn loans(what was I thinking) just money down the drain with absolutely nothing to show for it. Well, you know what they say, hindsight is 20/20.

  • External Auditor. Numbers and spreadsheet rule my life.
  • I'm currently a student at Escoffier school of culinary arts, so basically following my dream. Also working at a chain restaurant as a line cook, so while a little bit different from what I want, it brings in money. Hope to eventually work in a michelin star restaurant, as that is also what I intend to do for my externship. But that is my explanation of why I have been a bit absent. I still manage to fine time for my real life(Imperian) though.

As I'm sure you already know, chef's can have insane hours. Especially in upscale restaurants. Life outside of that will become rather difficult, however given where you'll live and the restaurant you eventually end up at, I'd love to come eat. I'm always in the mood for some good food, but then again who isn't?

As a guy who's gone through culinary school, completed a 6 week unpaid externship, and then worked the line on three different stations for a michelin star restaurant...

Kid, you've got it easy right now. Real easy. When you get into a real job in the industry, you won't have time for literally anything else. Your hours will suck, your life will be stressful, you won't be able to see people you live with because by the time you get up they're gone and by the time you're back they're asleep. Vacations don't exist, you'd better keep working unless you chopped at least two fingers off, and you won't hear the end of yelling for sucking at what you do for at least three months, if you're lucky. You'll work 12 hour shifts every day, not know when your weekends will be, get called in during weekends because that @#^#$% who works your precious station decided she wanted to call in sick for a stupid cold, and you will care way too much.

It's a tough life. It's rewarding as hell, and if you really love it, you walk away each day with a sense of pride and accomplishment. But it will be your life, and it will be your only life. Now's a great time to decide what you love about your life, and if you want work to be all of it. I was great at what I did- The station I trained is the only station didn't go down in flames after all the old hands left, and honestly, I loved it, and I wished I could go back to it.

But eventually I want to start a family. Eventually I want to get married, live a life. And with the money you get from being a cook and eventually a chef, and the hours, and oh god, the hours only go up from there... That's why I left. But I miss it and dream about it constantly. I still yell 'behind' when I'm behind someone and accidentally let slip 'yes chef' when answering questions. In the end, you'll have to pick what's most important to you.

  • Work in the benefits/claims department of the 4th largest health insurance company in the nation. I'm the person your doctor calls to find out how much money your group policy is gonna pay for your office visit. I'm also the person who has to explain to him afterwards why your claim denied because his people didn't ask for the right benefits and your policy doesn't pay for that type of doctor.  Or you hated your employer so much you quit your job and cancelled your policy without telling anyone the insurance card you've been giving doctors hasn't been valid in six months.

With a steady hand, Aosoth batters you with an orb sigil.
    You say, "Ow."
    You say to Aosoth, "Bitch."
    Aosoth blinks.
    You exclaim, "That hurt!"

yup. I trained for poker first, but we got rid of it. Then we got a big ass building and we got 4 poker tables. But, by that time I was already a suit, so I didn't really have a reason to go be a poker dealer.

I am a self-employed Interactive Computer Entertainment Technician.

    Well, if it works... :(

"On the battlefield I am a god. I love war. The steel, the smell, the corpses. I wish there were more. On the first day I drove the Northmen back alone at the ford. Alone! On the second I carried the bridge! Me! Yesterday I climbed the Heroes! I love war! I… I wish it wasn’t over."

You see the driver hooks a function by patching the system call table so it's not safe to unload it unless another thread is about to jump in there and do its stuff. And you don't want to end up in the middle of invalid memory.
